Just a Rant
Today the wife went to Wally World to get the groceries for 2 weeks. She got the usual crap and spent $370.
Several months ago it was $220-$250.
The squeeze is on and inflation will continue to spiral out of control.

Longshoreman Storm Port & Take Hostages
Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.
Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.

Police said thieves stole more than 42,000 pounds of meat when they took off with a loaded semi tractor-trailer last weekend.
Marshalltown police said the driver of a semi parked the trailer in a lot on Saturday near the intersection of Highways 30 and 14. When he came back to pick up the trailer on Monday, it was gone. The trailer belongs to Mid-Continent Trucking of Denison.Marshalltown Police Chief Jack McAllister said it's common for truckers to park their trailers in the lot overnight or for the weekend.
McAllister said the trailer was locked and the cooler left running. He said it took someone with a semi and knowledge of the locking system to take off with the trailer.

Homeland Security Loses Bomb
Yep they lost a bomb. Makes me feel real safe.
Missing are two 1/2 lb. sticks of a conventional explosive, typically used for mining operations. The explosives were packed in a small Igloo-type cooler bag and were last seen in the public area of the airport. Authorities have reviewed surveillance footage, but apparently, have had little luck in tracking down the explosives or who took them.

Same War; Different Weapons
via TNM
When England ruled the colonies, the tyranny was controlled by troops in red coats. It was a simple strategy of exceptional might against a bunch of colonists armed with rudimentary weapons. Nothing complicated, just might makes right, as it were. Similar issues existed in the battle between Texas and Mexico.
Mexico had the superior firepower and it was fairly simple to control the colonists. The battle lines in both instances were fairly straightforward; the bad guys had big guns and the impoverished knew they had to take up arms of any kind and use whatever was at their disposal to physically fight their enemy. Cut and dried. It could not be simpler to understand.
Today, however, we seem to have become more sophisticated (or at least believe ourselves to be) and the issues have been obscured by misguided professors, politicians, the news media and witless Hollywood performers.

Gay military magazine coming to US bases
via Briebart
US officials have approved the distribution of a gay-themed magazine at Army and Air Force bases for the first time, coinciding with the end of a ban on openly gay troops, according to activists.
OutServe Magazine, which caters to gay members of the armed forces, said it would deliver a special "repeal issue" on September 20, the day the prohibition against openly gay US service members is due to officially end.
The Gold Crash of...
1869
September 24, 1869, the gold market crashed because financiers were trying to manipulate the gold market during the Reconstruction after the Civil War. Just so happens at this time the dollar was backed by.....credit, not gold. Just like the fiat currency we have today.
Kinda sound familiar with current day news of China trying to do the same.

Kinda sound familiar with current day news of China trying to do the same.
The China Radio International sponsored newspaper World News Journal (Shijie Xinwenbao)(04/28): "According to China's National Foreign Exchanges Administration China 's gold reserves have recently increased. Currently, the majority of its gold reserves have been located in the U.S. and European countries. The U.S. and Europe have always suppressed the rising price of gold. They intend to weaken gold's function as an international reserve currency. They don't want to see other countries turning to gold reserves instead of the U.S. dollar or Euro. Therefore, suppressing the price of gold is very beneficial for the U.S. in maintaining the U.S. dollar's role as the international reserve currency. China's increased gold reserves will thus act as a model and lead other countries towards reserving more gold. Large gold reserves are also beneficial in promoting the internationalization of the RMB."

Unemployment and COBRA Benefits to Expire Sunday
Unemployment insurance and COBRA benefits is reported to expire Sunday for millions of voters because the Senate failed to pass a short term extensions of cash and health insurance benefits for the unemployed after a lone senator hampered the swift path due to his insistence that Congress first pay for the $10 billion package.
The failure throws light on the partisan gridlock that has held the Democratic legislative agenda and partly the Senate rules that enables one lawmaker to block legislation.

Although the non-governmental coins don’t have any “face value” (despite the markings), at least they’re minty fresh. ”Every 2011 Peacemaker Gun Dollar has been minted in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition and contains one half Troy ounce of pure .999 fine silver with a $25 MSRP, measures 32mm and is minted with high relief to exemplify the high ideals of the Second Amendment.” I haven’t experienced high relief in decades. And what’s with the price? Our headline says $26.43. “The rates for the Second Amendment Dollar are based on the price of silver that is constantly changing. ARANSAS PASS, TX-Police Beat Man for No Headlight on Bike
When will the train of abuses stop??????????
All for not having a headlight on his bicycle. And the dashcam just happened to malfunction. What a coincidence.
Attorneys Say Local Police Officer Severely Beat Unarmed Man
News video
It's news no one wants to hear; a family member is in the hospital on life support unable to speak and even worse there are few answers about how it all happened.
That's exactly what one Aransas Pass family says they are going through.
Martin Garcia Ortiz is in critical condition after an incident allegedly involving Aransas Pass police back on August 10th.
The family and their attorneys say they believe a rogue police officer may be to blame for Ortiz's severe injuries.
"We want to find out what happened to my uncle. We want him to hurry up and talk to see what he can tell us," said Victoria Hernandez, Ortiz's niece.
48-year-old Martin Garcia Ortiz is a life long Aransas Pass resident, though for the past few weeks he's been at Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi.
On August 10th, Ortiz's family says he was riding his bicycle home and just a few blocks away something happened to put him in critical condition.
Just before midnight, the family's attorneys say they believe police tried stopping Ortiz for not having a headlight on his bike. Then, the situation took a dramatic turn when one officers allegedly knocked Ortiz to the ground.
"Either with his vehicle or with his person pushed him over on his bicycle. He fell over to the street," said Stephen Carriganan, attorney for the family.
Attorneys say Ortiz was knocked from his bike along Cleveland Street. The allegations are only more shocking from there.
They say, they believe when Ortiz was already on the ground bleeding the officer got out and punched or kicked him causing even more injuries.
We contacted Aransas Pass police department for comment but our calls weren't returned.
It's not clear if the officers involved received disciplinary action, but it appears they're still on duty in the city.
Police are charging Ortiz with public intoxication and resisting arrest.
The family's attorneys report the police department has told them the dash-cam video from the police unit was- for some reason- unable to record the incident.
Attorneys also say the department hasn't given them a complete copy of the incident report.
"I can find very little justification. If what we believe is true; if they pushed or ran this guy of the road, whatever they did with their car or their persons. I'd be very surprised if there is any justification for that in a report," said Chris Gayle, an attorney for the family.
Now, the family and attorneys say they are faced with a lot of unanswered questions about exactly what went on that night, but they're hopeful they will find the truth.
"You will always get the answer. It may take a little bit of time. Right now, we're troubled by what we think the answer is. Maybe we're wrong, but I don't think we are," Gayle said.
Ortiz's family is pulling together and praying for his recovery. They're also praying for answers on how a possible run-in with police just blocks from home could put Ortiz in the hospital unable to speak or breathe on his own.
"It just breaks our heart. My dad and his brothers are just worried if he's going to be the same, but I know he's not going to be the same like he used to," Hernandez said.
The family says they have been contacted by the Texas Ranger who are investigating the incident.
They're asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the Rangers at [512] 424-2160.
Deputy Shot; Bullet-Proof Vest Saves Life
Yesterday morning I saw this on the local news. Even though they caught one of the shooters, they did not show a pic of him or identify him in any way.
The initial news report said he was shot with a .223 round through the windshield. Just goes to show you. Use M855 to hit auto glass.

Deputy Shot; Bullet-Proof Vest Saves Life
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the deputy pulled over a vehicle in the 2200 block of FM 1960 at Humble-Westfield Road at 2:40 a.m. for a traffic stop.
One of the four men inside the vehicle got out and fired four shots from a rifle, officials said.
The deputy was still in his car when he saw three bullets shoot through his windshield, investigators said. One of the rounds hit Deputy Alan Whitlock, 41, in his chest, but the Sheriff's Office said his bullet-proof vest stopped the bullet. Whitlock was transported to a hospital as a precaution. He suffered a facial cut from windshield glass.
"I don't feel like a hero. I was doing my job," Whitlock said. "Once it knocked the wind out of me, I just caught my breath and knew I was hit."Whitlock said it was hard to call his wife to tell her what happened."I'm just glad I was the one that got to call her and not somebody else," Whitlock said. "Once that happens, you realize how fragile life is.
"The men ran off into a nearby subdivision off Cobble Creek, deputies said, and one of them was caught a short time later."We have one detained and we are looking for three other suspects," said Thomas Gilliland of the Harris County Sheriff's Office
.For some neighborhood residents, it was an early morning wake-up call."The lights woke me up and I looked and I didn't know what was going on," Inge Radtke said.Radtke said she was told to take cover."(The officer) wanted me to get to a back room," she said. "I didn't know what was going on. I knew it had to be something pretty big.""It was very scary. I came outside and the SWAT team with guns were behind trees," Lisa Hooker said.
A second suspect was arrested Friday morning."This is a fine example of what our deputies go through every day and it's good he's alive," Gilliland said.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said wearing a protective vest is optional when the heat index reaches 100 degrees. Whitlock said he will be keeping his on.

Because I was a uppity ni**ger
Comedian Michael Colyar has blasted United Airlines for allegedly booting him off a flight because he is black.
The 'Barbershop' star claimed he was forced off his flight at Dulles International Airport in Virginia after accusing a stewardess of giving a white passenger preferential treatment.
According to TMZ, he was removed from the flight after inquiring about how to make a complaint about the stewardess after she shot him 'dirty looks.'
How about cause he's a asshole?
'The flight attendant and her friend got just what they wanted, the n**ger off the plane. I'm sure they feel a great triumph in putting an uppity n**ger in his place,' the actor and comic blogged after the incident.
'At the least I should be suing United Airlines for theft of services, public humiliation and defamation of character,' he added.
Just like I said
TMZ said several people on the flight said Mr Colyar had become unruly passenger before he was removed.

from Chengdu Living
Fake eggs are still going strong in China, despite the hilarity of it all to people outside of the Mainland PRC.
Man-made eggs: using man-made materials to make chicken eggs.
An Insider’s Report: In order to tell the difference between man-made and natural eggs, the first method is to inspect the shell. Man-made eggshells are particularly shiny and if the egg is opened, the egg white is not as sticky as a natural egg and is easily mixed in with the egg yolk. There may also be a light chemical smell coming from the egg yolk/white, whereas natural eggs have a fresh smell.
A man made egg has a cost price of 5 fen (1fen=0.01RMB — 1USD=6.83RMB). The lowest sales price found is 2jiao (1jiao=0.1RMB). One person can manufacture aprox. 1500 eggs in one day.
Man-made eggshells are made from Calcium Carbonate (CaCo3). The egg whites and egg yolks are made from the following materials: Alginic Acid, Potassium Alum, Gelatin, Calcium Chloride (with water) and artificial coloring.

If fake, the yolk will quickly break up when fried
Man-made eggs are manufactured with chemicals, most importantly through the calcification of Alginic Acid.
The actual formula described above for Alginic Acid is C6H8O6 + some form of Na, which we were unable to locate. If anyone has an idea about this particular molecule, feel free to add a comment!). Man-made eggs are basically solidified gel. Most of the ingredients are additives that are regulated under Chinese law. None of these additives have any health benefits; man-made eggs cannot be considered a viable alternative to natural eggs. Many of the ingredients involved in the manufacture of man-made eggs come in industrial and commercial forms.

Her cache somehow caught the attention of Lakewood Police, who paid a visit last September. When they found Rice wasn’t home, they asked an obliging employee of the complex to open up the apartment without her consent. Once inside, they raided the gun rack, making off with 13 firearms worth around $15,000. The only problem: They had no apparent reason to.
When Rice kindly asked to have her toys returned, the cops acknowledged that the weapons were legally owned. But they refused to return them without a court order. And so Rice has filed suit in Lakewood Municipal Court.
