122 destructive devices in the couple's home

via KPRC Ch 2 Houston

A woman has been accused of making more than 100 destructive devices with her common law husband, who fatally shot a sheriff's deputy.

Pamela Leggett, 32, has been charged with aiding and abetting in the making and possession of destructive devices and conspiring to make and possess destructive devices and firearms.

Baytown police said two utilities workers went to the home Leggett shared with Gilbert Ortez Jr. on West Osage Drive in the Tower Terrace subdivision in July 2009 to shut off the water.Investigators said Leggett went outside and fired shots at the utility worker.

Chambers County sheriff's deputies went out to the home to investigate. When Leggett was taken into custody, Ortez fired shots, fatally wounding Deputy Shane Detwiler, investigators said.

A subsequent standoff at the home lasted for several hours and ended when investigators discovered that Ortez was dead.

Detectives said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.Detectives said they found 122 destructive devices in the couple's home.

Officials described it as one of the largest illegal bomb making operations ever discovered in the country.Investigators said that from March 2006 through July 2009, the couple obtained chemicals, some through eBay, to make explosives.

Federal investigators said that some of the devices contained pieces of rebar, nails and bullets.Officials said they have not determined why the couple was making bombs.

Leggett has also been accused of having a machine gun, a short barreled rifle and three illegal silencers in violation of federal firearms statute

The Binky Man

Looks like Holder has gotten shook up withe the letter sent in by the 9 Sheriff's and by Idaho's Raul Labrador.

via Big Govt.

I just received an email with a letter from Attorney General Eric Holder attached to it.

The hard copy of the letter was sent to the House Oversight Committee in what appears to be a rather strained attempt to quell the storm surrounding Fast and Furious.

I simply cannot sit idly by as a Majority Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform suggests, as happened this week, that law enforcement and government employees who devote their lives to protecting our citizens be considered “accessories to murder.” Such irresponsible and inflammatory rhetoric must be repudiated in the strongest possible terms. Those who serve in the ranks of law enforcement are our Nation’s heroes and deserve our Nation’s thanks, not the disrespect that is being heaped on them by those who seek political advantage.
On a different note,  Some breaking news from DoJ is that Holder got an unexpected gift from Obama to help him through these difficult times..  Below is a picture of the gift.

Roll Call

What could possibly go wrong with this?......

via Cryptogon from Pop Sci

Roll call is going high-tech in Washington County, Fla. Rather than the usual name calling and response, students are now checking into class with finger scanning devices. And to keep better track of students from the minute they come under district supervision until they are delivered safely home again, the scanners are now moving from the school building to the school bus.
The systems have been active inside Washington County schools for roughly two months, but since most of the students in the district ride the bus anyhow, officials have decided the best place for the scanners is on the buses themselves. In the next week, a handful of buses will get the scanners. If the system proves worthwhile, all buses will have them by semester’s end.
At $30 per student per year, the system isn’t necessarily cheap. But considering the uptick in attendance (which means more money from the state in many districts) and the inherent increase in accountability and student safety, it may well be worth the cost. And naturally, parents who don’t want their children fingerprinted coming to and from school for whatever reason can opt to have their kids check in with their teachers in a more analog fashion.

Obama Appoints Singer Shakira To White House Initiative On Education For Hispanic Americans

Okay, I’ll admit, I adore Shakira.

But even I have to wonder about President Obama appointing someone to a commission on “White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans” who. . .

A) is not a U.S. citizen, and thus, not, technically, a “Hispanic American” in the context as it is commonly used . . .
B) has had one short experience with college, consisting of one course at UCLA . . .

C) was described as an “absentminded” high-school student.

A True Storeytale

Ever wonder what would happen if so called “common sense” gun laws were taken to the extreme. What would you do if an intruder came into your home and you had to jump through bureaucratic hoops to defend yourself. This video explores that concept. This film is a protest to the expansion of “Nanny State” laws that are taking root in places like California, New York, Illinois, and Washington D.C. just to name a few. It’s just a matter of time before we are all wearing our state required helmets when we walk down the street.
The worst part is that I have friends who think that the gun control systems portrayed in this movie are reasonable and understandable. This scares the daylights out of me as they are the ones who would be voting for or against such systems.

Band Wagon

Looks like more folks are jumping on the bad wagon to get rid of that bastard Holder.

Earlier today it was Idaho's Raul Labrador, now this.
