The Relability of Drones

Remember that drone the sheriff's office in Montgomery county bought this past year?

The test flight didn't go as planned.  :)

via Examiner
Vanguard CEO Michael Buscher said his company's prototype drone was flying about 18-feet off the ground when it lost contact with the controller's console on the ground.   It's designed to go into an auto shutdown mode, according to Buscher, but when it was coming down the drone crashed into the SWAT team's armored vehicle.

The damage was not severe, according to Buscher, who described only some 'blade strikes' on the prototype drone that was being shown off to the Montgomery County Sheriff's tea
Here are some findings fro a GAO report on drones
The GAO study found that 65% of drone crashes were caused by mechanical failures.  The study analyzed Pentagon and NASA data on 199 crashes of drones on battlefields

The 73-page GAO study found 17-percent of the crashes studied were blamed on operator error and 12-percent were listed as unknown causes.

That Crazy Ass Lamb!!!!!!

You might think the title holds some other meaning.  Think again.

This past weekend I was planning on going to Washington on the Brazos for the Texas birthday celebration.  As this is the true birth place of Texas.

I was informed that we would be going to a jackpot show here in Livingston.  Jackpot shows are what FFA & 4-H kids do to practice for their county fairs and to fine tune their animals.  Kinda like pre-season baseball games.

Any-Hoo.  My daughters show lamb is bat shit crazy.  It has not mattered how much she has worked with it, that thing needs some Prozac.

So he we were getting ready for show, as they were finishing up heifers.  My daughter wanted to get the lamb down and dress up her legs and do some spot cleaning.

So, I am holding onto the lambs neck so my wife and daughter can get the lamb coat off it.

All of a sudden this damn 140lb lamb get a case of the red ass and starts lunging.  She knocks me off balance and onto my ass I go.

Keep in mind that I am the only one holding on.

This crazy ass thing breaks out on a sprint with me still swung onto her neck.

Luckily I was able to slow her down enough with my fat ass so somebody could rescue me.  Because at this point I am ready to get my knife out and slit it's throat.

The damn thing did fine for her in the ring.  I think it hates me.

So yesterday and today I am sore all over.  Bruises on the inside of my thighs where I was trampled.

Needless to say, I have had better weekends.

Trinity man bites off man's nose during argument

What ever you can get a hold of in a fight is fair game.  Ears, nose, fingers, ANYTHING.

via KTRE
TRINITY, Texas (KTRE) -  A Trinity man had part of his nose bitten off during an argument Saturday morning at a Trinity residence.

Trinity Police arrested Lance Taylor, 24, on a charge of aggravated assault.

Chief Steven Jones said the victim woke Taylor up Saturday morning so that he could go to work. Jones said Taylor started arguing with his girlfriend, who is the victim's sister, over money and keys. Taylor got angrier and the 18-year-old victim tried to break up the argument. That is when Taylor wrestled him to the ground and bit off a portion of his nose.

Jones said Taylor bit off just about every part of the nose that was not bone.

STFU Gun

How long before we see USG contracts issued to buy these?

Here is the $$$ quote from the developers.
To use the researchers' words: "We have to establish and obey rules for proper turn-taking when speaking.

Yes, it's a politeness enforcer.
via CNET
Some Japanese researchers--Kazutaka Kurihara at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Tskuba and Koji Tsukada at Ochanomizu University--have created the perfect solution for this painful dilemma: a gun. No, they're not suggesting you go Dirty Harry on those who annoy you.

Instead, this appealing firearm jams the vocal output of the unwanted up to a distance of 100 feet.

The technology behind it is deafeningly simple. The gun listens in with a directional microphone and plays it back to them with a 0.2 second delay. This creates an environment in which one is simply unable to speak. The technical term for this is Delayed Auditory Feedback.

The Dorkfish Outlaw

Another day of being an outlaw patriot/terrorist/outlaw or whatever you want to call me.

Long day today.  This morning I finished up a new broiler house for my daughters FFA project.

She got in 50 this afternoon from Texas A&M.  whatever we have left from the county fair in April will be butchered and into the freezer.

This afternoon, I finished tilling up the potato, pinto bean & black eye pea patch.  That will get planted tomorrow.

So I have been a busy little food terrorist/outlaw

#EFAD Communiqué #7: D-Day Minus One

Communiqué #7: D-Day Minus One, Wednesday, February 29 (Older communiques are below in order.)

Okay, my loyal and stalwart troops, it is now D-Day Minus One. At around midnight tonight, Enemies Foreign And Domestic will become free on the Amazon Kindle Store HERE.

Since last night, I've been working on the major essay below. Please read it, and spread it as widely as you can over Facebook, Twitter, and freedom-oriented websites and blogs. It's a barn-burner, I promise you.

#EFAD: Gangster Government, and Sakharov's Immunity

The latest from Braken

For over a year now, the Department of Justice has been stone-walling the House committees investigating Operation Fast And Furious, wherein thousands of semi-automatic rifles ("assault rifles" in the liberal vernacular) were deliberately allowed to "walk" into Mexico, straight into the hands of drug cartel killers. One of those weapons was used to murder Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry a dozen miles inside of U.S. territory.

In short, the Obama administration conducted a program of mass murder for political purposes. Or, as President Obama put it to Sarah Brady, they were still pursuing a gun control agenda, but "under the radar." It is hard to conceive of a federal "law enforcement" program more evil from top to bottom than Operation Fast And Furious.

Old Maps

A cool site that has a huge database of old maps.

We're not going to take it any more

This looks like it needs to be handled like that of the folks in New Mexico with the Forest Service.

via City Square
Against intense local opposition, the Obama administration wants to demolish three dams on the Klamath River in Siskiyou County, California. Low-cost clean hydroelectricity as well as water for irrigation would be lost if the dams were removed. Removal of the dams would also cause chaos for ranchers, homeowners, and small business who live and work in the downstream of the dams. Despite this, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has been trying to force dam removal for the supposed benefit of some salmon and steelhead spawning habitat.
The current and many administrations before it have let the eco-terrorists (Sierra Club, NRDC, and many more) run rampant claiming the sky is falling & the little toads are dying.  For the most part they do nothing but waste valuable resources fight them, cost thousands of jobs and destroy families that are trying to maintain.

Ontoliberty asks a question that these folks are asking themselves.“What is your line in the sand?”

When will people reach that point?  I don't know.  Everyone is different and has different tolerances.

But I do know, that once it is reached.  The reactions will be fast and we will know it.

Communiqué #6: D-Day Minus Two, Tuesday, February 28

(Older communiques are below in order.)

I’m extremely happy that Operation #EFAD has achieved self-acceleration. Clearly, operators are grasping the potential for search engine and hyperlink log-rolling between Twitter, Facebook, Free Republic, this page, and many other forums and blogs, especially over at Western Rifle Shooters Association.

Another great place to mention Operation #EFAD is over on The Blaze. www.theblaze.com/ Thanks for that suggestion.

Use this link as the recruiting portal for Operation #EFAD. About Enemies Foreign And Domestic. http://www.enemiesforeignanddomestic.com/bookefad.htm

Please keep going on Twitter, a little here and there when you are able to. Remember, a Retweet (RT) or a reply is as good as a new message, in terms of throwing Operation #EFAD back out into the flowing Twitter-stream.

Here are some new Twitter #hashtag groups to include on new tweets and replies: #2A #GOA #CCW #guns #teaparty

Here is the old list, the more patriotic and conservative groups that are able to see Operation #EFAD tweets, the better.

#NRA #RKBA #SHTF #survival #redstate #biggovt #tcot #tlot #sgp #ocra

Remember to copy this link to “About Operation #EFAD” into new tweets and replies:
http://www.enemiesforeignanddomestic.com/EFADcomm.htm

Any Operation #EFAD potential operator recruit who reads that page, and then the Communiques, can get fully up to speed and become fully mission capable in short order. This will be true even more so on D-Day, Thursday March 1. Once Operation #EFAD kicks into high gear with the free Kindle downloads, and the elite MSM eventually takes notice, they will be able to read the history right here, and we’ll all have a good laugh at their expense, for a change.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You’ve stripped away our heritage,
You’ve outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question “Why?”
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

Spud Work-Arounds

Greek farmers are tired of taking losses on their production.

So they came up with a work around and by-passed the middleman.

Good for them.
Hammered by the financial crisis that has led to ever diminishing income, a group of residents in northern Greece have joined forces with potato farmers to slash consumer prices and ensure producers can get their crop to markets by cutting out the middle man.

Hundreds of families turned up Saturday in this northern Greek town to buy potatoes at massively reduced prices, sold directly by producers at cost price. They lined up in cars and with bicycles, on foot and with scooters to collect their bags of spuds from a truck that flung its doors wide open and was doing a roaring trade in the parking lot of a local courthouse.

Farmers say it costs about 20 cents ($0.27) to produce a kilogram (2 pounds) of potatoes, but that wholesalers will only buy them for 10-12 cents to get the crop to supermarkets, where they sell for about 60-70 cents a kilogram. Faced with making a loss, many producers say they have been unable to even get their products to the market.

Monumental

I think me & the family will go see this.

What’s wrong with America, and how can we make it right? This is the question Kirk Cameron asks as he retraces the footsteps of our forefathers in the hope of rediscovering America’s true “national treasure.” What made us one of the most exceptional nations the world has ever seen? How did we stray from such a great beginning? Journey with Kirk throughout America and Europe as he explores the foundational doctrines and governing principles on which America was founded. In the end, he realizes that the key to restoring our country is it is not a grand, top-down program that begins in the Oval Office. It begins with our families, around our dinner tables as we seek to renew our nation from the bottom up.

Here is the link for tickets.  It is a one night only showing.

How many of you have seen a rise in your water bills?

How many have their own water wells?

That is my next upgrade.  Local prices here are around $8k to sink one down to 350'.

Most everyone knows that Texas, like many other states, has the Castle Doctrine.

Yesterday, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that the water below the land you own is yours.  Not someone or something who has the $$$ to buy it.
We decide in this case whether land ownership includes an interest in groundwater in place
that cannot be taken for public use without adequate compensation guaranteed by article I, section 17(a) of the Texas Constitution. We hold that it does.
The "Authority" can not tell you you can't pump from it or need a permit.
The Court said that the government cannot restrict how landowners consume the water beneath their property without compensating them.

The ruling was also a victory for Burrrell Day and Joel McDaniel who sued the Edwards Aquifer Authority after the authority attempted to regulate how they used groundwater so the water could be used downstream.
So defend the patch you call home and the same applies to the water under it.

Bracken: Operation #EFAD – Communique #5

The latest from Braken at WSRA.

Communiqué #5: D-Day Minus Three, Monday, February 27

(Older communiques are below

Sorry to put this up so late (10pm eastern). Today was brutal, but I couldn’t share this Operation #EFAD task. But fortunately, this type of operation becomes self-sustaining, and does not need regular “command guidance” once set into motion.

All of the Facebook, Twitter, blog and forum activity will make its mark on Thursday, March 1, when the world at large first becomes aware of the “dangerous” novel from 2003 that foreshadowed current repulsive criminal abuses by federal law enforcement agencies, including Operation Fast And Furious.

More tomorrow.

You have heard of little incorporated areas getting away with all kinds of shit?

I got nailed by this town about 7 years ago.  Because I didn't stop for 5 seconds and a stop sign, you know a city ordinance.  Cost me $288 and the judge, & the cop was as crooked as a bent nail.  A guy at work last month got hit because his license plate frame was covering about 1/2" of "Texas" on his rear plate.

Now this comes to light.  All the chickens are coming home to roost.

PATTON VILLAGE, Texas -- A Montgomery County grand jury has indicted Patton Village Mayor Pamela Munoz and six other city officials on criminal charges ranging from abuse of official capacity to theft by a public servant, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

Also indicted were City Secretary Georgia Simons, Court Clerk Patricia Edmondson, and four current and former Patton Village police officers: Kenneth McLin, Michael Seymour, William Martin and Deangelo Lavergne. Three other former police officers were charged with additional criminal offenses in other counties as a result of the investigation, prosecutors said.

Many of the suspects were arrested on open warrants Friday afternoon.

The investigation began in late September of 2011, when the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office received information about possible illegal activity on the part of Patton Village officials and city employees.

On October 4, 2011, the DA’s office and the Texas Rangers executed a search warrant on the city offices, seizing computers, financial reports, payroll records, invoices, contracts, bank records and other documents.
